Our Philosophy

Right from the Start Early Learning Academy will create positive memories and experiences for all our children and families by generously contributing to the present and future success of our children, the school, the environment, and the neighborhood. RFTS ELA also strives to add to the quality of life for young children in the Berks/Schuylkill County areas, by providing the highest quality of professional childcare. We, here at Right from the Start Early Learning Academy, are dedicated to meeting the needs of your child at each stage of development. It is our goal to form a partnership with parents to enhance the child’s cognitive growth and sense of well-being. It is our goal to support children socially and emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Our teachers create learning opportunities that value each child’s learning style while meeting Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.

Right from the Start is a privately owned childcare center, with a single owner. Our childcare space is leased through the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU). In the building there are other services (run by the BCIU): Head Start, Early Intervention, Speech/Occupational therapy services, and other services.

Right from the Start is licensed by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL). RFTS is part of the Northeast region of OCDEL. We are inspected annually by OCDEL.

Right from the Start is also a voluntary participant in the Pennsylvania Keystone Stars Program. Right from the Start currently is a Keystone Star 4 Center. Keystone Stars is a state wide quality rating system designed for participating centers to improve the quality for children beyond already existing regulations set forth by OCDEL. Each star designation has its own research-based performance standards. The standards make a difference in the quality of care your child receives. The three areas of child care that are measured are the staff we employ, the environment your child is in every day and the way we run our business. Right from the Start participates in the PA Keystone Stars quality early learning program. This voluntary program recognizes childcare providers who exceed state health and safety certification requirements.

Right from the Start is also a participating member of PACCA. The Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) is a statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating the provision of quality early care and education to the children of Pennsylvania.

Our Learning Approach

Our learning approach is very hands-on and project oriented. A wide variety of experiences including literacy, art, math, science, dramatic play, fine/gross motor development are incorporated into our classrooms. Our program utilizes an emergent curriculum that is based on the children’s interests, ideas, and questions of the children. Our center follows the PA early learning Standards to ensure kindergarten readiness.

Right from the Start Early Learning Academy is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer and Care Provider.

RFTS ELA is licensed by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), formerly known as Department of Public Welfare. RFTS ELA complies with all childcare regulations set forth by OCDEL. These regulations can be found in the Pennsylvania Code Title 55, Public Welfare, Department of Public Welfare Chapter 3270 Child Day Care Center Blue Book.
